Nearly 2 years after fire, Eden Meat Market rises from the ashes
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - The family of 15-year-old Dennis King gathered to share their grief near the spot where his body was found.
King was reported missing Saturday, but that alert was canceled Sunday when he was found dead near 12th street and Keefe avenue.
Family and friends released balloons on 12th street Monday afternoon.
His family should be celebrating king’s last day of freshman year, instead they are planning a funeral.
Police aren’t yet saying how he died, but they have made an arrest. They say Malik Terrell has been taken into custody and is facing a first degree intentional homicide charge.
“Every year is seems the violence gets more and more,” said Malcolm Hund who attended the vigil Monday.
Hund is like many people at the vigil that were feeling grief, but also anger.
“Our babies, our children and our young people are dying in this city from the violence that’s going on with black on black crime,” said Hund.
Meanwhile, King’s mother Dombanee Lincoln is life dealing with the shock of losing a child.
“I just can’t believe this happened to my baby,” said Lincoln, “he didn’t deserve this. He didn’t he was a good kid.”
An autopsy was performed Monday but no results were released to the public by Monday night.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help pay for King’s funeral.
