Evinrude Outboard Motor Inventor Honored

It may not be the light bulb but the invention of the outboard motor was still an important one.

The man who came up with the idea did it right here in Wisconsin.

A plaque to honor Ole Evinrude, the outboard motor's inventor, was unveiled beside Okauchee Lake. That's where Evinrude first tested the motor.

Evinrude came up with the idea for the outboard motor after he went to get ice cream for his fiancé on a row boat.

By the time he returned the ice cream melted.

That inspired him to create something that could get around on the water faster.
