MUKWONAGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police and emergency crews responded Friday, Oct. 3 to a crash involving a train and a car near Bayview and Main in Mukwonago.
The crash happened before 9 a.m., according to witnesses. Several businesses in the area say they heard a train horn followed by the sound of the collision.
Along the tracks, a black pickup truck was seen pulled to the side with a fire truck parked slightly ahead of it.
Police tape blocked off the intersection, and officers along with fire personnel remained on scene for more than two hours. Residents said the area is generally considered safe, with protective measures in place such as crossing arms, lights and a median.
“I mean, when the train comes, arms come down and you stop. You wait. You don’t try to beat the train,” said Mukwonago resident Katherine Schoof.
A van was seen pulling up to the black pickup truck, with two women walking out and going towards the truck.
CBS 58 has calls out to confirm more details about the incident and will report them as they become available.
