EF-1 Tornado Confirmed in Northern Illinois

The National Weather Service in Chicago has confirmed a tornado touched down Sunday evening near Grayslake in Lake County.

According to the weather service, the tornado touched down near Round Lake and produced damage with wind speeds up to 100 mph along its path into Grayslake.

The damage survey team will continue to investigate additional damage in the area and a further update will include additional details about the tornado including path length, width and start and end times.

Daniel Morrison snapped a picture of the apparent funnel cloud.

No tornadoes were reported in Wisconsin, although numerous cities reported damaging hail up to 3” in diameter.
