Echo Lake dam in Burlington will be fully opened Wednesday

The City of Burlington is continuing to clean up after historic flooding of the Fox River last week. Since the end of the week officials have been slowly opening the Echo Lake dam in the hopes of completely draining the lake so they can assess some erosion damage done to the dirt areas around the side of the dam.

The dam will be fully opened by the end of the day on Wednesday. The Fox River level is currently 10.1 feet and trending down. Flood stage is at 11 feet.

Assessment teams are going throughout the city on golf carts meeting with residents and assessing homes with visible flood damage. The assessments are being done to determine the total loss from the city so they can apply for local and state finding to assist homeowners.

The only closed road is the Jefferson Street Bridge.
