Early morning fire in Milwaukee displaces family of seven
A family of seven is out of their home this morning following a fire on Milwaukee’s north side. Around 2:20 AM, the Milwaukee Fire Department was called to a fire in a 2.5 story home at N 17th Street and W North Avenue. When firefighters arrived they could see fire coming from the second floor of the home. According to the MFD, the one adult and six children living in the house were able to evacuate safety before firefighters arrived. They are being assisted by the Red Cross. The MFD reports heavy damage to the second floor of the structure, but there is no estimate to the dollar amount of damage. It has not been determined if there were working smoke detectors in the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
