CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Snow fell in Racine County for hours on Saturday, leaving behind hazardous conditions for many drivers in the area.
In Caledonia, off I-94, drivers at the Pilot Travel Center spoke with CBS 58’s Ellie Nakamoto-White about the conditions they were seeing on the road.
“It’s really snowy, visibility is low and it’s slow going. I probably did about 25,” Hope Schneider of Grafton said.
Others said they were driving extra careful due to the slickness and low visibility.
“You know, keeping distance between you and a guy in front of you, don’t need to tailgate,” said Eric Lobel. “I’ve seen enough accidents the other day. It was terrible.”
Michael Lane, a semi-truck driver from Nashville, Tenn., said he’d never seen snow like Saturday’s.
“It’s really bad to me,” Lane said. “I got a long truck, so I mean when it starts sliding, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Lane said he wanted to remind drivers of smaller vehicles to be mindful when passing semi-trucks.
“Just remember that trucks, we can’t see out that good, my mirror gets loaded with salt, so they need to be cautious of trucks,” Lane said. “Drivers out here be safe. Everyone be safe.”
As always, even if you’re used to the snow, it’s a good reminder to drive slower than you might think and leave a wide berth between your vehicle and others around you.
