Death Investigation on Northwest Side

UPDATE: The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner now says a body, found burning in an alley on the northwest side early Friday, is now being investigated as a homicide. If you know anything about this, you're urged to call the Milwaukee Police Department.

Milwaukee Police are currently investigating a death on the city’s Northwest Side.

The Milwaukee Fire Department was dispatched to the 6300 block of W. Appleton Avenue around 5:00 a.m. on May 27 for a trash fire, but upon their arrival they found it was actually a body burning. The fire was so severe it is making initial identification difficult, but they do believe it to be a deceased male.

Identification is still being made on the individual and the cause of the fire and cause of death remain under investigation at this time.
