Cosmic Golf coming to Milwaukee County Oakwood Golf Course

For one weekend only, Oakwood Golf Course will be lit up like a pinball arcade in glowing neon hues—but for nighttime golf.

June 15–17, from 9:00 PM until midnight, Milwaukee County Parks, in partnership with Cosmic Driving Range, will bring a party atmosphere and three different golf experiences to Oakwood Golf Course, at 3600 W. Oakwood Road.

Groups can choose to take part in any or all of the attractions. On the driving range, each of 15 “glow bays” will be available for groups of up to five players to try hitting Smart Targets. Additional Cosmic Skills games will be set up in the area leading to the clubhouse, and, on June 16 only, four holes of the Oakwood championship-level golf course will be brilliantly lit for night play.

“This is a truly unique opportunity to enjoy the Parks at night,” said Parks Director John Dargle, Jr. “Our partner Rob Peterson, the founder and ‘chief glowmeister’ of Cosmic Driving Range, predicts a relaxed night of fun and friendly competition for families and friends, regardless of their skill levels.”

Glow Bays on the Cosmic Driving Range

Smart Targets on the driving range feature huge, intensely colored, interactive targets that flash and make sounds when hit by the special golf balls soaring through the air. The secret behind the golf balls is that they are real golf balls with a proprietary glow pigment—that means “daytime golf” performance from a ball that shines like a comet through the night sky. Tee times are available from 9–11 PM.

Cosmic Skills Challenge Games

Cosmic Skills challenge games, ideal for individual players, will be offered every 15 minutes throughout the night. Examples include Flop Shot Limbo, where a player hits the ball over a wall (from five- to nine-feet high), trying to land the ball in the area closest to the wall; Cosmic Putting, where glowing tracks and rails turn putting into pinball; and Cosmic Glass Break, based on the Glass Break competition made famous by the Golf Channel but made safe with break-a-way foam rather than glass panels. Every hour, prizes will be awarded to the top player in each game.

Friday Cosmic Night Golf

Friday Cosmic Night Golf gives the championship-level Oakwood Golf Course a glow akin to the Northern Lights. Carousel lighting on four holes will fully illuminate the tee boxes and greens. Tee times are available from 9–11:45 PM.

Fees

All fees include use of golf clubs, glow golf balls, and personal glow-gear. The Driving Range fee for a one-hour glow bay rental, for up to five players, is $60. Cosmic Skill Challenges are $10 per game, per individual. Friday Cosmic Night Golf is $75 per group of up to five players.

Snacks and adult beverages will be available for purchase at the driving range and course.

Online Reservations

To ensure their participation in the any of the attractions, players should reserve a time online. Additional players in the Cosmic Skills Challenges will be welcomed on-site, as openings in the game schedule allow.
