The shooting happened on Saturday, Sept. 19. Family identified the victim as Camron Bowen. 

According to a criminal complaint, the shooting happened after Stokes and Bowen were riding on a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus and got off on Layton Avenue, between National and Greenfield Avenues.

The complaint says once the two exited the bus, Stokes pulled out a gun and shot Bowen several times. 

Bowen was a student at Bay View High School, according to officials, and investigators reached out to school staff members and were told Bowen and Stokes had gotten into a fight just days prior to the shooting. 

Authorities interviewed Stokes' mother, who was shown surveillance photos obtained from the MCTS bus depicting the incident and according to the complaint, she identified her son as the alleged shooter. 

Stokes has been charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.
