MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The clock is ticking to see and smell the Corpse Flower at the Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee.
The flower is in full bloom but experts say it won't last long.
This Corpse Flower inside the tropical dome blooms every seven to ten years and only lasts 24-48 hours. It's a rare opportunity to see the flower and smell its stinky stench.
"It's not as sharp or pungent as I thought it would be but it's definitely not pleasant," said Don Leibold of Milwaukee.
Experts say the flower smells like dead meat to attract a certain type of fly in the wild.
"It's not as stinky as I was expecting, but it has a ways to go. I think by tonight it will be very stinky," says Tropical Dome Horticulturist Mary Braunreiter.
There's no telling how long the flower will last after Wednesday or when the next Corpse Flower will bloom at the Domes so experts say if you want to see and smell it, you will want to stop by as soon as possible.
