MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 35-year-old Milwaukee woman will spend 28 years behind bars for her roll in a hit-and-run crash that killed one person and injured another.
The crash happened Sept. 22, 2024, near 76th and Good Hope.
Authorities say Stephanie Sykes was behind the wheel of a speeding vehicle when she struck two sisters. One of the victims, 20-year-old Talise Dunmore, did not survive.
Investigators said Sykes' blood alcohol content at the time of the crash was .081 -- and it wasn't the first time she's been convicted of OWI.
Sykes reportedly told officials she was, "blacked out" at the time of the crash.
In court on Friday, July 11, a judge sentenced Sykes to 28 years in prison.
