Coronavirus cases continue to surge in Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- New coronavirus totals are out for Wisconsin, and they show new infections are still surging as of Sunday, Nov. 15.

More than 6,000 new cases were reported within the last 24 hours. That is more than a 900 case increase from Saturday, Nov. 14.

The total number of infections is now over 312,000. The death toll is now 2,637 after 12 more people died within the last 24 hours.

Covid-19 hospitalizations remain alarmingly high as well.

As of Sunday afternoon, there are 2,034 covid patients at Wisconsin hospitals. This comes as the state is dealing with a shortage of PPE and critical staffing shortages because of coronavirus exposure.

There are now 18 patients at the Alternative Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis. That is two less than Saturday, when a record number of patients were at the facility.
