MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An event in Milwaukee is raising awareness for businesses who employ military reserve members.
The Coast Guard hosted the event.
They talked about ways to make sure reserve members stay employed when they get deployed. Local businesses also signed a statement showing their commitment to honor the call of service their employees make.
Program Manager Chris Campbell says it's good for business to learn their obligations.
"A servicemember basically only has three obligations: Boss, I'm going to be gone for a year, this is when I'm going to return, and upon their return, they have to let that employer know."
Campbell also says it's important employers learn the rules regarding military service to avoid legal problems.
