MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Residents had the chance to help clean up Milwaukee County Parks on Friday, Aug. 28. It's all organized by PeppNation Sports Leadership Camps and Milwaukee County Parks.
Participants helped pick up trash at McGovern, Moody, Sherman, Tiefenthaler, and Pulaski Parks, and Kinnickinnic Sports Complex.
The initiative helps youth grow their own opportunities through service work and helping to improve their community.
Organizers say the initiative encourages others to come and help with the cause.
"Having these young people out here in diverse communities working in these parks both on Lake Drive Central City Moody Park McGovern Pulaski, etc. The neighbors and the community actually sees it and and says maybe I should do something," said Brandon Culpepper, President and CEO of PeppNation Sports Leadership Camps.
Participants who helped clean also earned around $10 an hour.
