City of Milwaukee harvests 2026 Christmas tree🌲

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The City of Milwaukee officially has its Christmas tree for the holiday season. The Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) crews and city officials came together to harvest the tree Thursday morning, Nov. 5.

This year's tree is a 40-foot-tall Colorado blue spruce and was donated by Joanne and Al Sunn.

CBS 58 talked to the homeowners about the tree's history and how they're feeling about the donation.

"It was planted by my wife in 1996," said Al. "Since then, every year we've decorated it."

"It started out with white lights and little red bows. Then it moved on to strung lights, and the last several years all it has been is projected lights because we couldn't reach it anymore."

The "Cheer District" will be home to the tree and a tree lighting ceremony is set for Nov. 20.

This year marks the 113th anniversary of Milwaukee's annual Christmas tree lighting.
