WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha city leaders and local skaters gathered Wednesday night, Aug. 9, to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the newly replaced Horeb Skatepark.
The city's Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department held a grand opening ceremony Wednesday evening, attended by skaters of all ages.
The park has a beginners area, ramps, half-pipes, rails, and it even allows BMX bikes and in-line skates.
City officials say the park wouldn't have turned out as well as it did without help from skaters themselves.
"I think we did a really nice job listening. And what we heard from those that got involved at our public input meetings -- really, it was invaluable," said Ron Grall, Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department director. "It made a big difference, and they're part of the program today."
You can find the newly replaced Horeb Skatepark at Horeb Springs Park (330 Spring Street).
It's open to skaters of all ages from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. every day of the week.
