MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Cellphone video of a Milwaukee County Transit bus speeding down Fond Du Lac Wednesday night, Feb. 2 is gaining a lot attention. The woman who took the video posted to Facebook and Instagram.

"When I realized how fast we were going, I realized someone should see," Diamond Smith said.

Smith was heading northwest on Fond Du Lac near 27th Street. Smith's drive turned a little unusual when she encountered the county bus. She says she put on her signal to get over, but the driver sped up.

"It was enough distance to get over, so I got over and I looked up and the bus was right there on my bumper. So I passed the parked car, got back over, but I'm still going faster because I was trying to get in front of the bus. I look down, I am going 40 miles per hour. If I am going 40 per miles hour, the bus is too."

The speed limit on 27th Street is 30 miles per hour.

"I don't know why he was going that fast anyway in a city bus. I don't think that was safe," Diamond said. "He was trying to out beat me in the car."

Smith's video caught the attention of MCTS. They responded to her under the Facebook post. Smith read their response to CBS 58's Winnie Dortch.

"We're very sorry to hear this happened, while we can see the bus number, in order for us to investigate for you, we need a bit more information."

"I don't know if he was having a bad day or he just didn't want to let me in or what," Smith said.

MCTS sent this statement to CBS 58:

"Safe operation is of paramount importance to the Milwaukee County Transit System. While we do not yet have all the details related to this video, we are looking into the situation very closely. We encourage anyone who has relevant information to contact us at 414-937-3218."
