Brewers postseason hopes dry up with loss in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI - The last ray of hope for the Brewers playoff chances disappeared Thursday with the Brewers' 5-3 loss to the Reds.


Rickie Weeks homered, but also made two errors, one of which caused the tying run to score in the fifth. On the very next pitch, Yorman Rodriguez singled in the go-ahead run.


Brandon Phillips chased Yovani Gallardo from the game with a homer in the sixth.


The Brewers loss gives the Giants the remaining wild card spot in the National League. The Brewers face the Cubs for three games at Miller Park this weekend to end the season. They must win one game to avoid finished the year with a .500 record - 81-81.
