Multiple agencies respond to wrong way driver crash on I-43 near Silver Spring Drive

UPDATE:

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A wrong-way driver hit another car head-on on I-43 south near Silver Spring Drive Saturday around 10:39 p.m. The driver of the wrong-way car suffered a leg injury and was taken into custody by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The driver and passenger of the car that was hit head-on suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Five minutes before the crash, Whitefish Bay Police tried to stop the wrong-way driver on Silver Spring in downtown Whitefish Bay because he was speeding. The driver did not stop and fled onto I-43 south. Police did not pursue the driver onto the interstate.

Several agencies including the Whitefish Bay Police Department are responding to a crash that involved a wrong way driver on I-43 southbound near Silver Spring Drive.

There is no word on injuries and the number of cars involved at this moment. Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is assisting with traffic control. The Sheriff's Office reported they were notified of the crash at 10:36 p.m. 

North Shore Fire and Rescue has several vehicles on scene including two paramedic units.
