Body of an adult male pulled from the Rock River

The Rock County 911 Center received a call from a citizen who advised they spotted a body in the river in the 500 block of N River St. 

Janesville officers and fire department personnel responded and located the body of what appeared to be an adult male in the water on the west side of the river just south of the Racine St bridge. 

The body was recovered by Janesville Fire Department personnel and turned over to members of the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

An autopsy to determine the identity of the victim, along with the cause of death, is scheduled for 8:30 am on Wednesday. 

Until the autopsy is concluded, Janesville Police say they cannot positively identify this person as missing man, Dakota Giese. 

Notification of the victim’s identity will be made by the Medical Examiner’s office sometime after the autopsy.
