MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of the men charged in the June death of D'Vontaye Mitchell had his bail reduced Friday, Aug. 16.
Fifty-two-year-old Herbert Williamson appeared in person in hopes of having his $15,000 bail reduced.
Williamson and three others face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of felony murder for restraining Mitchell outside the Hyatt hotel in June.
Because Williamson's attorney told the court his client was without work and had minimal prior offenses, the judge agreed to reduce his bail.
"It sounds like 15,000 or 5,000 - either way, you're not able to post it. In this particular case, the state did make the recommendation of 5,000 initially and the state hasn't indicated that in any way they feel that was inappropriate," said Milwaukee County Judge Laura Crivello.
Williamson will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday.
