Area high school students learn from health care professionals at hands-on career expo
CBS 58 GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four of Wisconsin's largest health care organizations teamed up Tuesday, teaching the next generation about careers that truly make a difference.
More than 1,000 students attended the 2nd Annual Hands-On Healthcare Careers Expo at Greenfield High School.
Professionals from all across the area gave hands-on, introductory lessons in more than 30 different roles.
One organizer believes the day gives students a sense of direction before entering the workforce.
"There are some opportunities here where they can get in right away out of high school, or even during high school," said Consortium Coordinator Tom Hermann. "It's really nice to see the teachers bring in the students that have already expressed an interest in health care. They want to be here, they know they want to do health care, and in a lot of cases, it is just like, well, what do I want to do?"
Representatives from local colleges also helped guide students on specific health care programs their schools offer.
