RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) – Racine Police Chief Art Howell says a visitation for fallen officer John Hetland will be held on Tuesday and a service on Wednesday.

The off-duty officer was fatally shot after he intervened in an armed robbery at Teezers Tavern Monday evening.

At a press conference on Thursday, Howell talked about how good of a man Hetland was.

“John wasn’t just an officer, wasn’t just a father, wasn’t just a son. He was a personal friend,” Howell said. “John was an extraordinary officer and I can be encouraged by not the way he died, but the way he lived.”

Authorities are searching for the suspect in this case.
