Agriculture Secretary Perdue defends Trump rallies, prays for his speedy recovery

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- President Donald Trump's Agriculture Secretary, Sonny Perdue, was in Waukesha on Friday, Oct. 2, offering his support.

"We're certainly praying for a very speedy recovery and very low symptoms," Perdue said.

Perdue is a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force and he was asked if it was a mistake for Pres. Trump to hold large rallies where a lot of people did not wear masks.

"We've had people infected that have been locked down. And this is an interesting virus, we're learning more about it all the time. So no, I think people want to see the President, they want to be around the President and I don't know exactly how, we don't really know how anybody really gets transmitted," Perdue said.

Perdue called Pres. Trump a "doer," like him, who's not going to "hide in a hole and wait for this thing to pass over."
