After 66 years in business, The Exclusive Company to close all of its locations

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After 66 years, The Exclusive Company will close all of its stores.

According to a Facebook post, the passing of founder and owner, James "Mr. G" Giombetti" is the reason for the closures.

In celebration and appreciation to their loyal customers, The Exclusive Company says they will have sales on all of their merchandise.

A Facebook post from the company says, "We will be selling to the bare walls. Everything must go!"

Some good news, the tradition to participate in a final "Record Store Day" will go on. Stores in Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Milwaukee and Greenfield will all participate as usual.

All stores will be closing in the coming months.

Meantime, managers of the Milwaukee location have stepped in to save the beloved record shop. Two employee started a GoFundMe to keep the record shop on Milwaukee's east side. They’re hoping to raise $120,000 to buy the store and everything inside it. They plan to rename the record shop “Lilliput Records.”
