After 12 years, Delish Delivered opens its own kitchen and offers shared space for entrepreneurs

MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- After 12 years in a church kitchen, Delish Delivered finally expanded to its own kitchen space.
Delish Kitchen in Mequon is big enough for them to serve nearly 1,500 people a month, plus share space with other entrepreneurs in the community.
The meal delivery service offers 80 meals rotated throughout the year. This Tuesday, we caught up with chefs as they prepared lasagna, shrimp scampi and chicken oscar.
"I do enjoy cooking," said Kathy Burghardt. "I was in a previous career, I was extremely busy after work, dinner, and it started to feel like a burden, or not a ton of fun."
That's where the idea of Delish Delivered came from.
"I thought, 'I wish there was a local chef that could just make a ton of food and deliver it around the community,'" she said.
She's since learned that people have a need for a local, meal delivery service in every stage of life.
"It’s challenging to think about what to make, and go shopping, and clean it all up...It just makes their life a lot easier, and we also have a lot of people give the meals as a gift."
Burghardt took Delish Delivered a step further by franchising out the business.
"And created a package that franchisees can run Delish Delivered in their cities if we don’t deliver there," said Burghardt.
You can order Delish Delivered for one meal or multiple days a week. Those who want to rent a shared space in the kitchen can reach out to them directly at (414) 803-9894.
