Police discover bomb-making materials inside West Allis business
MADISON (CBS 58) -- A 92-year-old Korean War Veteran was honored Tuesday.
Joe Marek grew up in Poland and was drafted into the German Army when he was 18.
In 1944, he risked his life to run from the German Army.
He had an uncle living in Milwaukee so Marek immigrated to America in 1949.
Marek says the ceremony had one simple message.
"That's the object of the celebration. Those who stay behind and enjoy life. That's what I do, what I have," said Marek.
Marek says education has always been an important part of his family's legacy.
He only went as far as the 8th grade. His son went to Harvard.
