FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A roof-related problem caused standing water on all three floors of a Fond du Lac apartment building on Forest Ave., near Beloit and Sunny Slope roads, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue said in a Thursday, Oct. 29 press release.

Several units were reportedly evacuated while the building inspector and utility crews checked safety.

Eight apartments were deemed uninhabitable, and eight residents had to move out, along with three cats and two dogs, the fire department says. The Red Cross and the county emergency manager were notified to help with shelter, and all residents found temporary housing on their own.

No injuries were reported. The scene was turned over to building maintenance, and the building inspector will follow up with the property owner.
