78 Same-sex couples marry on Saturday in Milwaukee County

The Milwaukee County Courthouse stayed open late Friday night for couples looking to wed after a federal judge struck down the ban on gay marriage in Wisconsin. Those who didn't get their chance on Friday got another opportunity at the courthouse Saturday.


78 couples were married Saturday in Milwaukee County. and 68  couples were married Friday.


State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has indicated he plans to appeal.


\"Someone asked me what I think about the people oppose to this, what I think about that is;  there were people opposed for women to get the right to vote, people opposed for African Americans to get the right to vote, there were people oppose to equal rights. There will always be people who oppose,\" said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.
