MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police say a 5-year-old is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a crash late Thursday night, Jan. 22, near 24th and Fond du Lac. 

According to officials, the driver, a 27-year-old woman, left the roadway and collided with a tree around 10:44 p.m. She was arrested and taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

A 27-year-old passenger was also transported to a hospital with non-fatal injuries. 

Police say speed is suspected to be a factor. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
