3-year-old's lemonade stand raises hundreds for Germantown PD's K-9 Unit
GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 3-year-old girl from Germantown is making a big impact in her community. The Germantown Police Department is in need of thousands for a new police K-9, and one little girl stepped in to help in a sweet way.
When 3-year-old Lainie Stephens' parents learned that the Germantown Police Department's K-9 Unit was raising money for another K-9, they wanted to help. They squeezed lots of lemons and helped Lainie set up her very own lemonade stand.
"There were lots of people coming," Lainie Stephens said.
The 3-year-old was quite the salesperson, as her mom said, she had some tricks up her sleeve.
"She's so cute, it's hard to say no to that face," Molly Stephens said.
The Germantown Police Chief came down to meet the little girls serving up lemonade for their cause and shared a picture of it on the police department's social media. The post helped her business skyrocket, as people were coming down to sip on a glass of kindness.
"People were coming to the sale just to meet Lainie and have some lemonade," Molly Stephens said.
Lainie's stand raised more than $750 throughout the weekend, and the toddler brought her hard-earned cash to the Germantown Police Department.
"He told me, 'thank you'," Lainie Stephens said.
Showing everyone that it just takes one little girl, with a big heart to make a difference one lemonade at a time.
"It doesn't matter how small you are," Molly Stephens said. "You can still have a huge impact. I've been so proud of her."
Lainie's story has been making national headlines, so Molly started a GoFundMe page to allow people from all over the country to donate to the Germantown Police Department's cause. You can donate here.
