23 Displaced after Apartment Fire in Sheboygan
At approximately 2:00 AM on Saturday, February 18 the Sheboygan Fire Department received a 911 call for a building on fire with flames coming out of the first and second floor windows located at Camelot Manor Apartments at 2332 Carmen Avenue.
First in units arrived on scene approximately five minutes from the time of dispatch to find an 8-family apartment building with flames coming out the north windows of one apartment.
Sheboygan Police were on scene and were evacuating occupants from the building.
Fire crews initially attacked and knocked down the fire from the exterior, as additional crews arrived they were able to enter the apartment and complete the extinguishment.
The lone occupant of the apartment where the fire originated had evacuated the home prior to the fire departments arrival.
The apartment that was on fire is a complete loss with substantial fire, heat and smoke damage throughout. The tenant is currently being assisted by the Red Cross.
Approximately 23 people were at least temporarily displaced due to the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
