20-Year-Old Pedestrian Hit and Killed By Car In Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT - Mount Plesant Police are currently investigating a single vehicle fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

It happened early this morning around 4:30 a.m. near Hwy 32 and Chicory road in the Village of Mount Pleasant. 

Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old Mount Pleasant resident down in the northbound lanes of Hwy 32 with severe trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene by The Racine County Medical Examiner's Office.

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. She is a 27-year-old resident of Racine and she was not injured during the accident.

Preliminary investigation of the scene indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound on Hwy 32 in the right lane of the 4 lane highway, approximately .3 miles north of Chicory road. The area does not have street lighting. The 20-year-old pedestrian was in the right traffic lane as well when struck by the northbound vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation and the name of the pedestrian is withheld pending proper notifications.
