On Sunday, July 16 at approximately 11:30 AM, Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to an ATV versus car crash with injury on County Highway A in Primrose.

UW Med Flight was requested, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the ATV driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates the ATV, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Verona, was driving west on Highway A, when it hit a car driving the same direction. The driver of the car, a 2013 Honda Accord, was identified as a 17-year-old girl from Belleville. The driver and a passenger were not injured and are cooperating with the investigation.

There is no preliminary evidence of drug or alcohol use by those involved in the crash.   

Highway A near O’Connor Road was closed for over four hours due to the crash investigation.
