Hometown author shares inspiration for ’The Sins We Inherit’
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thousands of people from across the country took part in the Milwaukee Marathon on Saturday.
In the full marathon, the men's winner was Martin Erl of Milwaukee. He's a youth social worker and says winning was incredible, but he also wants the win to inspire the kids he helps.
Erl says some of the challenges faced by the families he works with are comparable to the long and difficult run.
"In terms of just setting that mile by mile goal, sometimes it's you know, just getting to that next marker and for a lot of the families, that holistic approach of just, hey, we may not be where we want to be, but someday we can hope to be," said Martin Erl, Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, Wraparound Milwaukee, Intake Assessor
In the women's race, Jessa Victor from Madison was the first to cross the finish line.
