"You're not from America:" Man arrested for causing $5,000 worth of damage to store in Racine

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Officers responded to the Welcome Mart, located at 1130 Washington Ave, for a report of a man trashing the inside of the store.

It happened shortly before 4 a.m. on Friday.

Upon arrival, officers located a man in the store shoving items off the counter and onto the floor. Four shelving units that were stocked with chips and candy were pushed over, a coffee maker was flipped off the counter, and the slushie machine was knocked over.

An officer noted that he could not enter the store without walking on merchandise that was thrown.

A cigarette machine was also flipped over resulting in smashed glass, a Red Bull cooler was damaged, and the card reader was ripped from its permanent position with wires hanging out.

An employee told police that the suspect, later identified as Robin Grainger, was dropped off at the store and asked the employee if he could call an ambulance. The employee said he could not do that and Grainger got upset, making statements including, "I'm going to make you pay" "I'm going to steal from you" and "I'm going to rob you."

According to the employee, Grainger also yelled profanities and stated: "you're not from America."

There is an estimated $5,000 worth of damage done to the store.

Grainger is now charged with multiple counts of criminal damage to property.
