Young players Milwaukee Brewers traded for prove their worth
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The guys obtained in the trade with the Mets. Brandon Sproat, the pitcher, and infielder, Jett Williams, are promising.
But manager Pat Murphy says they don't have to show all they have week one.
"That's what we talked to Sproat about a bunch," Pat Murphy says. "Like we know you're good. We traded for you for a reason and we've done the research. Don't come in here and try to prove it. It's a very vulnerable time for pitchers. You what I mean if that thing too. Trying to like impress."
"God put me in you know over here with the Brewers," Brewers Pitcher Brandon Sproat says. "I mean there's definitely a plan that He has for me so I'm just gonna ride the wave and trust it."
Sproat's teammate and spring training roommate? Jett Williams.
"Coming over with Sproat? Great player. Great teammate. Even better guy off the field," Infielder Jett Williams says. "We're actually staying together. No, it's nice being able to come over here with somebody you already know. And just seeing what we can do to help this team win."
"Jett Williams is a baseball player," Murphy says. "You can just see it. Sproat has got huge upside. You're gonna see a lot of those two I promise you. They'll be names that years to come Brewers will know about."
At five feet six inches tall? Williams feels like he always has to prove himself. Just like the way the Brewers play.
