Young burn survivors getting set for 'Burn Camp' at Camp Timber-lee
EAST TROY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation has opened registration for the 29th annual "Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth," often referred to as "Burn Camp."
The event, billed as a safe and supportive environment for burn survivors ages three to 21, is set for Aug. 13 - 19 at Camp Timber-lee.
Burn Camp offers post-injury support, promoting healing and resilience while fostering connections with others navigating similar life challenges. The week includes a variety of activities, from acting lessons and magic shows to photography classes, all culminating in a red-carpet gala.
The theme of the 2023 camp, "Be a STAR in Life," encourages campers to embrace strength, tenacity, authenticity and resilience.
Michael Wos, Executive Director of PFFWCF, discussed his excitement about the camp in a May press release.
"Nothing is more important to us than ensuring an incredible camp experience and fostering the positive, life-affirming impacts and meaningful connections campers make."
Burn Camp is entirely free for participants. While registration is open until camp begins, PFFWCF urges those interested to register by July 31 by clicking here.
