WWII Veteran and toddler become best friends

MINNESOTA -- Age is no issue for a special friendship in Minnesota. A toddler and an 89-year-old WWII veteran have become the best of friends. Those who know the duo says they learn a lot from each other.

For nearly a year three-year-old Emmett Rychner has had a mentor and friend in 89-year-old Erling Kindem. Emmett's parents love watching the two do everything from playing catch to racing their respective John Deer vehicles.

Kindem has always been a neighbor who Emmett's parents would say hi to in passing, and thanks to Emmett that's changed. Emmett first crossed into Kindem's yard when he saw tomatoes in his garden.
