Workers harvest 2014 City/County Christmas Tree

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Milwaukee.

City workers harvested a 38-foot Colorado Blue Spruce Thursday morning. The tree was donated by Claudine Hamlett-Gorlick, a homeowner in the 3700 block of S. Whitnall Avenue. This is the second time Hamlett-Gorlick has donated a Christmas tree to the city. The first graced Catalano Square in the Historic Third Ward in 2013.

The star of the 2014 Christmas tree celebration was taken to Red Arrow Park by police escort. After the tree is set up at its new home, workers will decorate it for the lighting ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at 4:45 p.m.

Milwaukee's Christmas tree celebration is the second-oldest in the country, behind New York City.
