MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a shooting on Monday that left a 22-year-old woman seriously hurt.
Authorities say the shooting occurred around 10:35 p.m. near N. 37th St. and W. State St.
"I heard the shots, it was right outside my apartment there was at least eight rounds," one neighbor said.
Police say shots were fired into a home and the woman was struck inside. She was taken to a nearby hospital.
"She had a bullet in her head and was laying on the ground. I put a tshirt over hear head, stayed on the phone with 911. I stayed on the line, rubbed her chest to keep her heart going. I was talking to her to let her know everything was okay. I knew she was okay because she grabbed my hand you know," another neighbor who jumped in to help said.
Police continue to search for a motive and suspect. If you have any information, you're asked to call them.
