Woman Requires Surgery to Remove Abscess After Wearing Hair Tie on Wrist

A Louisville, Kentucky woman required surgery after an abscess grew on the back of her wrist after wearing a hair-tie on her wrist for too long, according to WLKY.
Audree Kopp noticed a growing bump on her wrist and doctors at first gave her antibiotics.
The bump continued to grow and required emergency surgery.
Her doctor, Dr. Amit Gupt at Norton Healthcare, said bacteria from Kopp's hair-tie likely got under her skin through her pores and hair follicles causing three types of infections.
"They said I needed surgery, and thank God I caught it in time, or I could have had sepsis," she said to WLKY.
