Woman in West Bend Charged with Child Neglect and Possession of Cocaine

A woman in West Bend was arrested after she allegedly fell asleep after consuming narcotics and leaving a 3-month-old unsupervised.

According to West Bend Police, the incident happened on Thursday at 6:40 AM.

West Bend police officer responded to a multifamily residence to check the welfare of a tenant after another tenant reported hearing water running inside the bathroom for several hours.

The responding officer attempted contact with the tenant but received no response. On entry to the residence the officer found a 22 year old female tenant in the bedroom.

According to police, she was allegedly exhibiting signs she was under the influence of drugs. In addition the officer observed drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

 The investigation determined the woman ingested narcotic drugs and fell asleep in the bedroom leaving her 3 month old child unattended in another room.

 Officers arrested the woman on charges of Child Neglect, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Amphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 There were no injuries to the 3 month old child. The woman also has a 5 year old son that was in school at the time of this incident. Both children taken into protective custody by Washington County Child Protective Services.
