Woman arrested in connection to deceased newborn left in Whitewater field

WHITEWATER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 39-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to a deceased newborn found in a field in Whitewater. Police say the woman arrested is believed to be the mother of the child.

According to police, the woman is being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Charges are being referred to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office of concealing death of a child and resisting or obstructing an officer. Additional charges may follow.

The investigation is ongoing.
