LAS VEGAS, NV (CBS 58) -- A special moment is happening ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
In Partnership with USAA, NFL star and Pewaukee native gifted fellow Wisconsinite, Army Staff Sergent veteran Adam Alexander a trip to the Super Bowl in Vegas.
The two got to meet in Vegas tonight, on Friday, Feb 9. They shared a hug and exchanging some signed gear from Watt.
Alexander is an Oshkosh native who was struck by sniper fire on deployment in 2011. He had a 5% chance of survival.
Now, he's at the Super Bowl meeting one of Wisconsin's best.
But TJ Watt is just as thankful.
"That I'm here talking about football and my dream job, in retrospect is not possible without our veterans. The guys and women in our military that fight for our freedoms. That we can play a game for a living is so special and something I never want to lose sight of," said Watt.
"It's absolutely once in a lifetime. It's an honor to be here on behalf of USAA and DAV, and TJ Watt is one of the premier defensive players in the league. He's a Wisconsin boy as well. So, we share those roots," said Alexander.
Alexander will be taking his father-in-law with him to the Super Bowl.
In total, eight veterans and guests will be going to the game.
TJ's brother JJ did the same thing at last year's Super Bowl.
