MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Wisconsin Red Cross is sending more volunteers to help those impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
By Thursday, there will be 34 volunteers from Wisconsin in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
26 volunteers from Wisconsin have been on the ground since last week assisting with providing shelters and food to those threatened by the hurricane.
CBS 58 spoke with a volunteer at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport before he boarded his plane to South Carolina on Wednesday.
“It’s difficult work volunteering,” Ryan Clancy said. “But it’s nice to know you can do something tangible. I think in 2019 sometimes you get the sense that things are difficult in a much larger sense. It does bring me some personal satisfaction to help in a very visceral way.”
The Red Cross says it is also in contact with the International Red Cross and will assist with the operation in The Bahamas, if needed.
