MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the past five years, the Wisconsin Diamond Dancers have performed at special events throughout the state.
On Monday, Feb. 2, instead of showing off their impressive moves on the dance floor, they took some time to help others.
They donated $1,000 to the Sojourner Family Peace Center, a nonprofit that helps families impacted by domestic violence.
The team's director is glad the money is going to an organization that helps keep the community safe.
"Sojourner was our charity of choice because it helps support families. It's a safe environment; safe families and safe families is the beginning of a safe community," said Margie Dougherty, director of the Wisconsin Diamond Dancers.
The Wisconsin Diamond Dancers have a number of events coming up, including a performance at this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in March.
