Winter Parking Restrictions Lifted in City of Milwaukee

Due to the unseasonably warm weather and only a minor chance of accumulating snowfall through the end of February, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works is lifting winter parking regulations for the City as of February 20.

"We are living on the edge here. We are hoping in the next 8 days we don't get any snow," said Mayor Barrett on Monday.

March 1 is the day winter parking rules are supposed to end.

This means that posted regulations that include “No Parking December 1 to March 1” have been lifted. Parking is allowed, either alternate side parking or two-sided parking, during the overnight hours from 2:00 to 6:00 AM.  Winter-restricted thoroughfare streets will now allow either alternate side parking or two-sided
parking during the overnight hours from 2:00 to 6:00 AM. Non-posted 48-hour exception streets now allow for two-sided parking.

If more snow does fall this winter DPW can still initiate a snow operation or parking rules until the snow is cleared.

Remember, a valid overnight parking permit is required in the City of Milwaukee to park overnight on City streets from 2:00 to 6:00 AM.
