Wild Lights and Frosty Free Week: Milwaukee County Zoo shares fun winter activities for the family
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- You still have time to visit the Wild Lights event at the Milwaukee County Zoo. From Dec. 26 through Dec. 31, see the pathways to all the animals lit up with tunnels, twinkling forests and more. Wild Lights Frosty Nights starts at 5:30 p.m. It's just one unique way to see the zoo. If you want to visit animals who love the cold, the zoo is hosting Frosty Free Week. Families just pay to park, and they can spend the day visiting the zoo.
"We don’t have a lot of opportunities throughout the year to be at the zoo at night. We have a few events that we always do, and this is one of them," said Megan O'Shea, communications manager for the zoo. "Giving people the opportunity right after the holiday season, kids might be stir crazy in the house, adults might be stir crazy, so it’s an excellent week to come spend some time at the zoo."
And on your way in, bring those broken, tangled lights you've been meaning to toss.
"We take your broken, old holiday lights and we recycle them. We don’t want them to end up in landfills, we don’t want you to throw them away," said O'Shea.
The zoo is open on Christmas Eve for its regular daytime hours and closed Christmas Day. Wild Lights returns Dec. 26.
